A 60-Year Tradition of Providing the Best Possible Outcomes for Our Patients
At Muilenburg Prosthetics Inc., our vision statement, Providing Hope and Quality of Life, is acted on every day by our practitioners who help our patients learn their lives aren’t over – just different.
For more than 60 years, MPI has been caring for patients in the Houston metropolitan area, as well as seeing patients nationally from Georgia to Alaska, and countries including Argentina, Bolivia, Mexico, Pakistan, Russia, and Saudi Arabia.
We have a long association as a provider to Memorial Hermann TIRR (The Institute of Rehabilitation and Research), The Methodist Hospital, and Shriners Hospitals for Children – Houston. Leading MPI's commitment to excellence in patient care, expert fitting, and fabrication of quality componentry is Ted Muilenburg, CP, FAAOP. Mr. Muilenburg and his staff consider getting their patients back to their highest level of mobility as their single, most important goal.
Cutting Edge of Orthopaedic Rehabilitation
MPI provides advanced prosthetic care, using the latest technologies to optimize patient outcomes. MPI's practitioners and technicians keep current with the complex technology, improved materials, and refinements in fabrication techniques that constitute today's varied selection of prosthetic devices by regularly attending continuing education programs, which include seminars, courses, and training sessions. Plus, MPI works closely with many manufacturers on testing new products and providing information on what works and what doesn't.
Today, the team is certified to fit the most current high-tech componentry including the i-Limb™, C-Leg® Dynamic Arm®, Harmony® VASS™ system, Rheo Knee®, and the Proprio Foot®. We select those components most appropriate for each person's functional needs and unique lifestyle and work with patients to set recovery goals.
Patients are assured of the highest level of care. MPI practitioners received professional accreditation from the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics (ABC) and are members of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists, national and Texas chapters.
Partnering with Our Patients for Life
Our care and services continue long after a patient is fit with a device. Many of our patients are with us for life and will return as their needs change or as technology changes to better fit their needs. We fit patients with prostheses that reflect the way they live – now and for years to come.
People come to MPI as patients, but soon become a part of our family. To us, they are far more than a file number or a name on a chart. Getting to know our patients and responding to their concerns is our way of ensuring they get the care they need. Our satisfaction lies in customizing a prosthesis that lets individuals do what they want.
MPI is proud of its record of service and the number of patients it has helped to lead rich and productive lives since the family-owned business began in 1948. As the field continues to evolve, MPI will continue to evolve with it to help prosthetic patients live their lives to the fullest.
Our Modern Facility
MPI patients receive a complete range of prosthetic services in a modern, comfortable setting at 3900 LaBranch St., its location since 1950. The facility was rebuilt then, enlarged three times and completely renovated. It now encompasses 10,000-square-feet, including private fitting rooms, casting rooms, gait training rooms, a library, and an expanded stock room to facilitate in-office fabrications, modifications, and repairs. Adjacent parking, outdoor patio seating, free WiFi, and a comfortable waiting room and lounge area make our office a pleasant setting for patients and staff alike. All adjustments, maintenance, and repairs of devices also are done on-site by the MPI staff. Designed for patient comfort, privacy and convenience, our office is completely accessible and offers on-site, fully wheelchair-accessible parking.
MPI is an accredited facility from the American Board of Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics, and Pedorthics (ABC). Accreditation means we meet and exceed standards in patient care, administrative policies and procedures, facility safety, and patients’ rights. We undergo a review by ABC every three years to maintain our accreditation, ensuring that ABC’s high standards of performance are continually met.
